Sharks seem to play with the floats more at night, esp. the white styrofoam ones, they kind of "glow" I think. You might want to go without any, fish just one, maybe two rods. One tight to the boat, the other deeper.

At night, I usually add a 8" pork rind strip that has been soaked in menhaden oil on the top two baits. I don't know if it helps but seems to work...

Over the years we have done some sharkin at night. Yes, they seem to like the glow sticks. To try and solve the problem of them going after the glow stick tied to the balloon on the rigged lines we put a glow stick on the baits and send them down, usually fishing three rods at this point. To possibly "Raise them to the surface" I will take about a 50ft piece of floating poly line and tie balloons to it every 5ft or so. Using the much smaller glow sticks I place them inside the balloons prior to blowing them up. It looks pretty cool, almost like a mini runway all lit up. If we do see or hear one come in on the line we then use a surface pitch bait as we pull the rope with the balloons towards the boat..this method has worked for us in the past..

Just trying to help!!!

Night Bite

Things I do different at night:

1.Two (2) rods max. Like MakoMat stated one uptight, with a clothspin. The second deep into the slick also pined.

2.Light sticks on all baits, so we know when the fish is close.

3.Chum bag only, no laddling or any slippery messy deck chuming, just some light chunking off the bait board.

4.No floats, they always get hit.

5.Plenty of 110 ****pit lighting.
