The reports said that 1 million gallons an hour were pouring into our waters and it lasted 7 days. I was speaking to a capt from south jersey and he said it could be a few years before it's gone. I don't eat fish but once in awhile I'll take some home for friends/family, not sure if I will this year. What do you think?

If this is a repeat of a previous post I apologize.

I'm not a marine biologist but I believe you are referring to the spill that occurred several weeks ago in Northern NJ due to the pipeline rupture. The sewage spill was mainly fecal chloroform. Untreated Human waste. Not a chemical spill. The danger was only in shellfish due to the high bacteria count. I do not think that it will impact the fisheries and the waters have already been approved for shellfishing. Bacteria counts in the water especially with heavy geese populations rise dramatically especially in summer months. So I don't think that the impact is great although the clammers/commercial baymen did suffer from loss of revenue during their peak season.
