I'm going to be out in Greenport next week and would love to get some Sea Bass. I assume I have to head out to the Ruins or Plum Island. What can I do to increase my chances of sea bass instead of porgies?

I havent done any bottom fishing out there yet this year but try the green can marking Little Gull Island Reef. I've caught good amounts of seabass there over the years. You could go with bigger hooks to reduce the porgies landed but that wont stop them from hitting your baits. If the seabass are feeding agressibely you can jig them.
