See full report of outing on Freshwater thread (Harriman).

Though I'd post a couple pics here for the Kayak crew. Plus provide a product endorsement for the Scotty Triple rod holder. Got at end of last season. Love it. Freshwater, it allows me to carry ultralight-spin, med.-spin, and Heavy baitcasting set-ups all organized and ez access.

PaddleOn...I guess I'm a bass fisherman...just not striped bass! Incidentally, that pickerel may be the largest I've ever caught.

I was thinking about you that rain soaked night we talked at Demo a few weeks back and wondering how you made out that night.
I headed home after talking with you.I had a nasty cold coming on and it just seemed the right thing to do was call it a night.

Nice fish! That Scotty holder is something I may purchase.

Oh yeah, I got blanked that night (unless you count a pair of skates). Ridiculous conditions, but even in the morning, which was nice, I couldn't score. I will regroup and try again. Maybe I'll push the kayak into the Sound by Rye later this week and see what I can do.

rac37- No, it doesn't get in my way. I actually think it's better than "veritical" holders as with the rods out in front of you they are out of the way of back cast, etc. You can rotate them up, down, or out to the sides at any degree you want. You could put the two side ones out like down riggers and troll if you wanted.

I'll measure tonight and post the dimensions so you can spec it out. My yak is an Old Town Dirigo and it actually had a square flat spot on the "dash" to mount a rod holder. Fit the Scotty perfectly like it was made for it.

I do like to carry a lot of options and dislike constantly clipping lures on and off, so the triple is a must for me. Even on the Deleware though when I pretty much only throw Senkos I'll put one ultra-light with 4" worm and a heavier spin rod with 6" worm. Maybe with 2 color options. They also make a holder for fly rod which I got. Plan to try for the smallies in the river by fly this late summer.

Kayak Fishing Stuff is the way to go. When I bought the other top units, they didn't force me to buy the bottoms and adjusted the price down. Instalation was ez. Drill, bolt, done.

If you like the pickerel...have you tried those new Chatterbaits? Chartruess "frog" color. They run great in the shallow weedy spots the pics like.
