Hi all,

I'm going transatlantic from Edinburgh, Scotland in July to stay in the Bath area. I've never been to the States before so don't have a clue about fishing there. Near Bath I'm told Popham beach can be good for fly-fishing (maybe Bass?) Any ideas about how to go about it/where to try/regulations etc.. Brown trout and salmon in Scottish rivers/lochs is my usual, so I could really use some advice, reciprocated of course. Anyone shed some light?

Cheers.

Plugger

Apologies for the lack of info. I'm staying in New Harbour (the Pemaquid peninsula) in the Mid-coast region of Maine. I hear the salt water fly-fishing is good close in to the shore for striper bass etc. Any tips on techniques with the fly would be useful.

Hello Mate,

My parents are Scots as well { that cheap thing isnt just rumor!} , LOL.
I fish South Shore Long Island but not with a fly rod.
But with a spinning outfit White Bucktails are a favorite. tipped with a pork rind strip produces bass, bluefish & more off the beaches.
Also plugs, swimming & topwater will help you land a cow!
I know a Capt. who runs charters in Maine his name is Capt. Walt check for his ads in the marketplace { forsale} section here @ the noreast site.
He'll give you a good deal and a few laughd too boot.
Cheers,

prime area youre heading to .
any local tackle shop will set you on your way
make sure your equipment is up to the game fish you will encounter... i think a light tackle charter could cap off
trip you wont soon forget.
