I bought a spinner bait lure about 2yrs ago.
I purchased it at walmart but forget the name.
Anyway I did catch fish on it but only used it a few times.
One thing I did'nt like about it is when you surfcasted this lure it would'nt go very far.
The lure was not what call aero dynamic.
To much wind resistance.
The lure now sits in my tackle box.

I bought one last year, tried it a couple of times from the boat and surf, and didn't catch anything. I think it would work very well, I just don't use it too often. Maybe this year.

Bought one a 2 years ago also. Don't recall the manufacturerer - for some reason SeaWolf keeps popping into my head. Have had a fair amount of success with it in the Nissequoge.

It's got:
6/0 hook rigged to a green bucktail
5 or 6 chrome beads on a metal shaft about 4 inchs long
a 2" spinner blade mounted on the shaft just after the beads.

As IBEW said - it doesn't cast far. I added a small bullet sinker just above my snap swivel to give it a little more weight. That helped get it about 60 to 70 feet out. You also need a light set-up to help with the distance. I'm throwing it with a 8.6" St. Croix spooled with 14 # Fireline. Gives me the ability to throw light lures a reasonable distance.

Long distance casts are not always needed in the Nessy anyway - so this lure works for me there.

Have found that if I use it during slack tide (either high or low) with a slow - jerky retreive - it will get fish when any other lure I have won't won't. I attribute this to the flash of the spinner blade.

Both blues & bass have hit it.

I'll try to post a picture of it this evening.

Flounder

I need to know where is the best place to take my brother to catch a few flounder on the 15th? He's coming from Queens and I want him to see that Long Island has the best Surf scene in N.Y.
I know that it will be a slow start, because of the could weather but we are both itching for some fishing.

Thats the same lure I bought.
Think they called it baby bunker or something like that.
The company also I think was sea wolf.
I've seen this lure at Walmart & Sports authority. Its been a while since I seen it but then again I have'nt been looking for this lure.

I may be mistaken here, but the pics above look like a larger version of a plain old freashwater spinner (mepps, roostertail, etc.). It is my understanding that a "spinner bait" has two arms in a "V". The line gets tied to the point in the "V". One arm has either single or multiple blades and the other arm has the hook and some sort of skirt. I used one that had a squid skirt last year off Monomoy with good results. Different terminology in different areas I guess.

The spinner you are talking about is a safety pin spinner bait I use them for large mouth bass in fresh water
A company come out with a large one for saltwater use.
I was thinking of getting one and adding a 2nd large willow leaf blade and substitute the squid trailer with
a bucktail jig with a piece
of pork rind.
It should be great for those quite flat days.
You cast it out and reel fast enough so the blades
run just under the water breaking the surface every once and a while it would leave a large noisy wake on the surface attracting the bass and blue fish that will see the bucktail swimming just underneath the blades and smash it
The one stripper 77 is looking for is a large musky size inline willow leaf spinner

Again, different terminology. Go to cabelas.com and put in a search for "spinnerbaits" and you will see what I am talking about-fresh or salt-a spinnerbait is a spinnerbait. All I was pointing out was that the pics posted are not of a "spinnerbait". As far as running them on the surface, try a "buzzbait" and you might be plesently suprised.
