40H

It's a great reel for the money. I have one and I'm very happy with it . You just need to upgrade the drag system. There is an upgrade kit available through Diawa. If you do a search on this site you should be able to find a lot more information on the subject.

Saltist 40

It is on page two of this thread. I started the thread. Based on the advice, I ordered and replaced the washers with carbontex washers. I have not used the reel yet but based on others reports, it will be fine.

Check out page 2.

I did the "Alantani" Saltist upgrade, using greased CarbonTex drag washers. My reel is a 50H, but I'm pretty sure the guts are all the same as the 40H.

Anyway, I was able to push the drag over 20lbs, but be warned, while the drag can handle over 20lbs, the anti-reverse can break.

I smoked my anti-reverse by pushing the drag probably closer to 25lbs, while playing with some large Bluesharks last June.

Upgraded my sal - 30 and 50 with the carbontex washers and bearing and was told it would increase the #s drag . With a full spool it didn 't work for me. Didn 't change the drag capability. I beleive it made the drag smoother but thats' it . If I only fill the spool to about 3/4s of its' capacity I can get a little over 20 #s of drag .
