Boating course

Power Squardron is a great course, teaching you everything you need to know but will rarely use, what is needed is more instruction rules of the sea, how to trailer a boat, launch and load at the ramp. These are what you do most and have to learn on the job, causes the most trouble for boaters, those learning and those waiting at the ramp while you learn. Very nerve racking, best thing you can do is get stuff to helpo you with driving your trailer and launching and loading a boat, check out the Snapper a great automatic boat latch system for trailers, I saw its video at www.fishingvideonetwork.com pretty cool gadget

Why should the majority of boaters, who never trailer their boats, have to learn about towing and launching a boat?

i remember the squadron course did touch upon trailering safety concerning hitches, lighting, safety chains. insofar as actual trailering, this is an area where you will gain practical knowledge by experience.

I believe they dedicate at least 2 hours to the subject.
