I am sorry to announce that my family and I will no longer own the original Trade Winds. Since the Fall of 2001, Trade Winds has served us nobly, being the instrument that helped us build the ocean fluke trade we so love. She turned out to be an excellent sea boat, as any fisherman who has been on her on an evil ocean can attest to, and an equally excellent fishing platform.

On the up side, she will at long-last be returning to her first home, Montauk, and will be continuing in her tradition of being a hard-core fishing boat. She will be named the Miss Montauk, and will be owned and operated by Capt. Jamie Quaresimo and his family.

I, Kathy, and our sons are sending the Quarisimo family the continued luch that the grand girl has brought to her previous owners.

Look for the girl to be advertised here after she gets prettied up, and she'll be fishing when fluke satarts up.

Sad

To see your boat go, but glad to see her able to go back to work.
I hope you will still be sailing, ( with a new boat) or is the true sad news that you are no longer going to be Capt. of a boat? I sure hope this is not the case:rolleyes:

Best of Luck to you both!

Paul-

I am sure you're sad to see her go, the boat that you built your business on. But, it is good to hear she found a new owner, at her original home port ( she was the first Viking Starlite, right?). I wish Capt. Jamie and crew all the best in their new endeavor, I look forward to fishing with them.

Just want to echo what Chevy asked, you didn't mention Tradewinds II, so you are still in the business, correct? I sure hope so!

WOW!!!

I would say that is a win, win situation all around. Yes it is like losing the first girl friend but the next girl friend is even better. Hope my wife isn't looking over my shoulder. Ahh, it should be okay as she has been the last girl friend for over 45 years this August!

Gee, now that I think about it, the Tradewinds was the vessel I was standing on when I almost got thrown over board!!! All because of eating a banana, ha, ha!!!

Capt Jamie, good fortune to you. I am sure your anglers are very happy to hear of your good fortune.

Heck, with all the unrest in the fishing regs it amazes me how many boats have been purchased in the last several years. Gosh, talk about eternal optimists!!!

The very best to all involved.

Just wanted to add to my husbands thoughts. When we first bought the orginial Tradewinds, Capt. Paul Forsberg wished us all the luck and said that he hoped we had as much good fortune with the boat as he had. Well, we send that good fortune to Capt. Jamie and his beautiful family.

Capt. Neil- I agree with your sentiment but for me it was the boat that Paul and I bought together when we first started to date. My love for that boat will always be.

I am blessed that Paul and I still have TRADEWINDS II. It will continue to run the full day Ocean trips like always.

Good Luck Jamie and Sharon-not that you need it at all! You are a great team~

Good Luck to both of you!

Good Luck with the new boat Jamie, If Paul worked on it you know its in excellent shape! And good luck to you Paul though I don't know it on a personal level but Speedy and others have said your one of the best at restoring and fixing wooden boats from stem to stern! I hope you and your family's the best of luck in the future! As I was always told, there's always a great woman behind a good man!!!!

First let me say thank you to everybody. i will post a new report for the Miss Montauk as soon as i am done hear. Thank you for all the Kind words. Paul and Kathy thank you for being so kind, caring and helpful in all of this.
Phil you are absolutely correct Paul is a perfectionist and you can tell in all aspects with the repairs he has made on the boat, I am sure i will be getting some advise from Paul as i finish what he started in bringing the old girl to her former glory. As for the great woman i think it stands for the literal and the not ( the boat as called a woman). As for my wife God bless her.
Walkingontime, i love that picture, because of the poor quality due to age it looks like a Norman Rockwell painting with the man in the boat. My wife and i were wondering if the 2 boys on the stern might be Steve and Paul Jr.
Capt. Neil yes i am an optimist and hope and pray it pays off in the future, but i did not move my family to Montauk to give up now!
