We'll soon see. I wonder if people will still look at this as ducking Hopkins.

He's so **** quick, but he has fragile hands so who knows if they'll hold up to the bigger body. I'd also like to see if he has a chin - I don't think he has been hit in the face in 7 years. Shold be interesting.

I say he wins. decision.

I'm w/ you Billy - decision for Jones Jr. But it's a tough call. Jones is quick, and powerful for his size, but his most recent fights were all against chumps and he did more showboating than boxing. I wonder if he might have focussed too much on the fancy punches and not enough on real technique. I doubt he's going to go in looking for an easy knockout against Ruiz, I think he's probably looking for the points instead. I'm not even sure Jones has the power to knock Ruiz out, but Ruiz almost definitely has the power to lay Jones out. As for his ducking Hopkins, I just don't think so. This is a tougher fight in my opinion, and I think jones could easily beat Hopkins.

I have to agree with JT, this is a much tougher fight than Hopkins. IMHO he would have knocked Hopkins out in the 4th or 5th. I wonder is he does have the power fo KO Ruiz? He has knocked out some guys who were reputed to have a very tough chin. I think the key, for him, is to land and land and land. Not necessarily power shots, but good solid shots. Ruiz doesn't have the greatest chin in the business.

The key for Jones is to keep moving the whole fight. Hes getting older, fighting at the heavy weights were notceably tiring him out his last few fights, I assume the same will happen here. Smaller ring, plus Ruiz is NOT scared of him, especailly since he has beat Holyfield twice.

This will be really interesting. Jones has been trashed for a good part of his career for not fighting quality. There reallyhasn't been anyone for him to fight though. I'd love to see him get "hurt" - not KO'd, just whacked a couple of times. I like him a lot, I'd just like to see how he reacts to a drop of controversy..

well i'll say roy will take the fight it would be nice to see it happen i mean it's been over 100 years since a middleweight won the heavyweight crown, as for hopkins 4 or 5 rounds? na dont think so remember this Jones has defeated the best fighters in three weight divisions. He outclassed and showed up Bernard Hopkins over 12 rounds to claim the vacant IBF Middleweight Championship in his first landmark fight on May 22, 1993.

Been a boxing fan my whole life and have on tape every televised fight since 1978 (the year I got my first VCR). Thousands of fights total. Anyway, this fight is real iteresting. Jones, Jr. is as gifted a fighter as has ever been. But he is also a very smart businessman. He only takes chances when he has to (like when he was a contender and needed to face a solid champion for the title - Hopkins at middleweight and James Toney at supermiddleweight). Also, he only takes a fight when he KNOWS he will win and not get banged around. I have never ever seen such a world class athlete with so much concern about getting hurt. Many may not know this but several years ago he pulled out of a fight with a washed-up, clearly shot Buster Douglas because he wasn't getting enough money for the risk. Douglas was a three hundred pound out of shape slob at the time. No, Jones does not take chances. He knows Ruiz is not the best heavyweight in the world. He knows he can win. How he wins remains to be seen. I don't think he will KO Ruiz. Not that he couldn't if he truly wanted to. Ruiz does not have good defense. Its just that Jones won't commit to his punches because that will mean he will be in the danger zone too long and he doesn't do that. I agree that he beats Hopkins, but not easy. But clearly.

For someone so skilled I find it odd that Jones is so cautious. If he does win, I really don't know who he'd fight next. There's one reason I'll always root for him, though: DON KING DON"T OWN HIM! Well that, and he IS an amazing athlete.

After seeing that, if he drops in weight, he'll kill Hopkins. We'll see what Hopkins has in a few weeks.

Guess he'll never get tested. He now has nobody to fight in the HVywt divvy, so he'll have to drop in weight.

From the link

Just like men such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Leonard, the one-time pound-for-pound king was pummeled and beaten badly by a younger and fresher opponent.

Calzaghe is 3 years younger than Jones? The writer made it sound like a decade or so. Hopefully HBO will put the fight in regular programming this week.

Well I got to see the fight Saturday night.......

Calzaghe is still my pick for best pound for pound Champion

He just beat the last best Pound for Pound Champion at his own game.

Joe schooled him...enough said.

There is a good chance we have seen the last of Calzaghe. For those who would like another look at his impressive showing against Jones, HBO will air the fight Saturday night (11/15) at 10:15 ET.

A super middleweight bout between Jermain Taylor and Jeff Lacy will also air on the broadcast. Lacy is a former IBF 168-pound titleholder. Taylor was once a unified middleweight champion.

Calzaghe said after the fight this might be it.
He's 36years old and has fought the best in his weight class.
With the exception of Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KO) there is not much left for him. And I think Chad is 26 years old.

Not the brawl I thought it was.
Jones looked kinda good early...but....he's lacking something....

I guess thats why he lost.
Good...I never liked him anyway.
