I use my 965 on a 7' M/H Penn Powergraph rod. Works great for fluke, weaks, bass, blues, seabass, little tunny, mahi and just about any other light tackle fish we have around here. Might not be enough for reef tog though.

Hi, I build on the Lamiglas Tri Wall blanks and they are great!.

Calstar and Seeker also have great blanls you could use in deep water with that reel.

Check out a Seeker, Diawa Sealion, Lamiglas, Ugly Stick and St Croix for a 6 1/2 or 7' rod that will handle 20 or 25 # test line.
