I just bought the accurate Boss 665 2 speed. I am looking for some opinions on what jigging rod to put it on. I will be fishing for tuna 80+ on a private boat mostly, with a couple of party boat trips. I would like to spend less than $500. Thanks

For traditional style jigging check out the Calstar's 700h or XH depending on the avearage size of the fish you target under 100lbs go with the 700h, over 100 step up to the xhthey are a very popular blank / rod for composite jig stick

lots of great choices ...

if you're looking for something in the traditional 7' range, i'd suggest:

wahoo jr. kidding aside- i actually had a dream about this rod last night. this thing is no joke.

calstar 700xh- will be heavier but has lots of backbone for lifting fish. its also available off the shelf with good components at a very reasonable price (around $300)

gloomis makes a pelagic series in 8' that is a popular 'big fish' stick in some parts. if 8' is too long for you, the blank is available and could be cut down to suit.

there are a couple of dealers that carry cosmotech blanks. like the wahoo jr, the weight and performance must be seen to be believed.

st. croix makes a couple of blanks in their upper ranges that would be suited to the task.

all of these are in the 7' range (give or take) and well able to lift big fish. a shorter Japanese style stick would also be an option. gmann, kilsong, randy from anglersproshop and others can offer guidance for you there. i've got next to no experience with those.

good luck!

sticks

I would tend to agree with Paul 708 --- traditional jigging the Gusa blanks are powerful and light, enabling the user more time at the rail with comfortable use. --- for nontraditional "Butterfly Jigging" I use Jigging Master --- I go with the 500Gm model matched with the Accurate 665XN or the NN 2 speed. There are other rod brands that are probably as good (SevenSeas/et al) ---mostly out of Asia.

The Calstar 700H is a nice stick, I have one, has been sucessfully used for jigging 100 plus pound tuna, but wouldn't be my number one choice.
