new rod

Steve,
Sage, Sage, Sage. What else can I say? You'll pay more but the service is better IMO than loomis. I broke a sage last year, had a new one in a week, didn't matter that I made it, no questions asked. My buddy busted two custom Loomis' last year, 6 and 8 wts, and they won't replace the blanks cause they didn't build the rod. Be careful about Loomis' return policy, I know a lot of peeople who had problems replacing rods. Good luck and look into both warranties

Scott rods and Scotts only... we'll if you need a budy rod a diamond back will do.

In my opinion Scotts are the best rods currently out there. Actually I only get the Saltwater tactical series.

One bad thing is that if you have a problem like I did, they will charge $20 if they determine its your fault.

Good luck!

The GLOOMIS 10wt is the best fly rod money can buy. You'll be able to cast that rod all day or night long. As for the post above about the GLoomis guarantee. I've had my GLX for 5 years and broke the rod 3 times. Each time I called GLoomis I had a brand new fly rod at my front door in 2-3 days. Now thats service.

listen to flyrodder, he know 's what he is talking about. i just busted my glx 9wt and had a brand new rod at my door step in 3day's. i own about 7 gloomis rods from there gl2's all the way up to the glx model. there is no better in my opinion, and i broke a couple of them and never had a problem with the replacment..

for pure performance, nothing beats the loomis glx. still the lightest, crispest, use it when distance casting is mandatory (like fishing for false albies most of the time).

that being said, i still love my old "soft" sage rplx. when i'm tossing big flies or poppers, dredging deep on a full sinking line i just love this rod.

never had any service problems with either for the last 7 years or so. both rods are the multipiece, jmo but i think they're superior to their 2-piece cousins.

which is better? like deion used to say "both".
