I recently bought a 7ft 2 peice Tsunami trophy spinning rod 1/2-3oz. When I press the tip of the rod on the floor to get a bend in the rod (was checking how stiff it is) I hear a very slight cracking of graphite. The rod seems sturdy but im hearing this noise and im wondering if i get into a big fish its gonna snap on me.
Thoughts:confused:

flexing graphite

1st you need to be very carefull with graphite if you "J" the tip or flex wrong you will snap it.

get stuck in the bottom and lift your tip to the sky bye bye top of rod ..

That said some cracking and popping of a properly flexed rod most likely the flexcoat on the guides.

Usually when graphite breaks while fishing, the tip shoots straight down into the water, and the breakage occurs when the rod if bent over so teh fiber/pieces are far away from your face. Wosrt place to break a rod, is when thre is no line running through the guides, adn you are in a small confined area pulling on teh tip. REcoil from teh break causes a piece to fly off the wall and smash your hand, hopefulyl not your face. Scary how much energy is stored.

Teh only way you might get injured on a broken rod is teh recoil which jolts your body backwards. Hopefully you dont' fall over anythign or over the side of the boat.
