I've been doing a lot of surf fishing lately and am looking to get a new set up. Does anyone know where I can purchase a rod and reel set up (new or used) for surf fishing? I normally fish either Long Beach or Sore Thumb. I mostly fish bait but I'll be fishing jig come the fall. I'm looking to spend $150-$200. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate the help.

You can also check out J&H in Oakdale. THey have a good selection of Rods and Reels. Try a Tica in the weight you want and maybe a Penn or a Quantum Boca. Ask at the tackle shop to match them up. They are decent inexpensive equipment.

i have the boca! try a spheros 6000 or an 8000 youll love it!

but seriously - try the tackle stores...find something you are comfortable with...

when i throw bait at the ocean - i like an 11 or 12 ft rod to get over the waves -
then i have it matched to a shimano baitrunner reel
