Hello All

I want to start jigging for tuna on my party boat trips. Can anyone recomend a rod and reel combo to get started. I am looking for something "off the shelf" Can I get a decent set up for around 300.00? Any other tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

inexpensive

Daiwa Sealine rod with a Penn Baja Special ---or I would look for a used rod (ebay) seeker calstar or lami--- and put the money into the reel --- this way if jigging isn't your cup of tea the reel would still have some other uses.

What BobWeeler said. Put the money into drag and line capacity. Most tuna are fine with something like an Avet JX somewhere around $175 give or take. Another $40 in 65-80lb braid. All the rod needs to do is bend alot and not break. Check ebay, specials, etc. This jigging tackle can add up quick if looking at the higher end gear. The lighter the more expensive.
