That?s a very good observation!

Here are some of the reasons why Rockaway area is so productive?

First of all? there is a big bay with lots of marshes (Jamaica) that holds an incredible amount of bait! Secondly, It?s shallow and keeps the water temp. warmer than usual? Thirdly, the Hudson (nursery ground) and East River outflow spills down to the first big and rocky jetty (Point)! If you combine these factors ? it is a perfect fish hangout spot!

If you get a good overview of the area, you will get a better picture! ;)

There are still some impressive bass holding this time of the year chasing down herring! ;)
