Fished incoming this morning, before work. As I get there a fellow surfcaster leaving with a keeper size bass, around 32 to 34 inches. He says it hit a rubber shad. I start fishing nothing doin. Trailrunner shows up, we keep fishing, nothing. About an hour in, we look at each other and say doesn't look to good. Then I get a swipe on the popper. Then another swipe, but I hook him. A small ****tail blue. Trailrunner then get a hit on a popper, bass around 26 inches. Next thing you know a full blown run starts. We're hooking up or getting swipes, every cast. Trailrunner Lands a bunch of bass right up to keeper size. I get into one, fighting me hard. I ask trailrunner to give me some room because this one is running all over the beach. Finally land her. a 40 inch bass. Around 25 pounds.Caught her on one of my little neck style poppers, I made. The pic below shows the abuse those bass put on that popper. The pic of the bass, if you look at my pole, the purple wrap on top of the cork handle, is marked off in inches the top mark is 42 inches. The run lasted maybe 20 minutes. You never know, we almost gave up. All fish released unharmed. 40 inch bass tagged and released. PS. I would have asked Trailrunner to take a picture of the bass with me in it, but he was to busy catching bass.
