when returning from the surf does anyone religiously rinse off there lures before storing them in the truck or elsewhere? it seems like everytime i go out i sometimes forget and i see the salt eating away at my hooks little by little.
should they be rinsed or soaked in fresh water when returning from a trip every time.
i catch myself forgetting and or just lazy. since i have a surf bag , even though i use only one or two lures the drip saltwater on the rest. just would like some feedback.

Unlike many, I am fairly religious about giving my gear a quick spray down after use, even when returning at 5:00 am. Whatever plugs are on the gear receive the benefit of a spray down, plugs used but in my bag will have to wait their turn. The only time I rinse all my plugs at one time is at the end of the season.

I should But I don?t. I just don?t have time- one night ends and I am fishin again. I know of one caster that is fanatical about washing his plugs. He carries a jug with dawn dishwashing soap mixed with water in his buggy. He swares that it keeps his plugs looking great and the hooks free of rust. I actually don?t wash down my reels ether. Just never get a chance. They do get opened up weekly and repacked?so no need to wash really.

Are those shinny mustad hooks I see in that case?
For those of you that don't understand the question, I believe that Bill is referencing his firm belief is that the new ("shinny") version Mustad 3X hooks are crap and snap easily.

Well being that green doesn't come easy these days I try and take care of every thing I own. I for 1 wash down my entire bag , rod and reel after every outing even if I know I'll be out again within the same day NO MATTER WHAT TIME IT IS. I even wash the entire under carriage of my Ford Exploder. When I had a boat I was even worse. My philosiphy, take care of it and it will take care of you.>>>>>Martin
