Okay, here is a question for all of you. I purchased some Taco outriggers which I've installed through my hard-top. This past weekend, I purchased a rigging kit and began to rig the outriggers the way I've always done it. Three separate people that walked by my slip thought what I was doing was "wrong". You tell me:

From the top of the clip, the line is fed through the eyes of the poles back to the snubber. Pass the line through the snubber and back to the clip. (here is where my rigging differs). Instead of tying the line off to the clip (ie, making a simple loop), I run the line through the bottom of the clip (in my case through the bottom eye of the clip) back to the eye-ring that the snubber is attached to. The "tag" or return section of the line is attached to the eye-ring by a snap swivel.

By rigging it this way, I can bring the clip toward the boat and actually bring it inside the ****pit for adjustments or re-depolyment. If I were to rig it in the manner that was suggested to me this weekend (ie, rigged like a simple clothes line), I'd have to crawl up to the pole to make any adjustments. For safety sake, I'd much rather have the ability to make changes inside the boat rather than reaching for the clip while hanging on.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions??

Thanks for the back-up. I rarely doubt myself when it comes to these issues, but having three separate people question what I was doing in a matter of hours, made my a little uneasy.

I thought about mounting the eye-ring on the gunwale, but decided that placing it on the hard top was a better placement.
