What are a few of the better ways to rig plastic baits normally used for fresh water bass, such as Slug Os, worms, etc. for salt water use on Strippers, Trout, and Bluefish (if you dare) in the surf? Would Texas or Carolina rigging do the trick, or when more weight is needed will lead heads work? I saw an older gentleman on the OBX using a Carolina rig with a .58 cal. minnie ball as a weight with a larger sassy shad as bait. Thought that was neat. Many thanks for any and all help or suggestions.

I've always used FinS, Assassins etc on a lead head, though I can see where using it on an unweighted hook, perhaps Texas style, could work very well in the shallows. I think it's important to get the body to lay straigt on the jig head so it looks most natural.

Try rigging these light plastic baits as a teaser with a metal or plug lure below. The large weighted lure will get you out there where the fish are and the action of the lighter plastic lure will intice the fish.
