Well folks I have to tell you I generally dont fish weekends but my neighbor wanted to fish with me and he still has to work, so on his behalf I went against my fishing instincts to show him a great day on the h20.We did a summer flounder/tautog combo.Theres a golf course in reynolds that always yields doormats this time of year as this was our first drop. After skillfully navigating through the poles in Lido I rigged him with one of my special pinballs tipped with a peruvian smelt and a chartreuse teaser 131/2 inches above it.This my friends proved to be lethal. We caught several doormats, and three daylights(sundials as most of you are familiar with) on the outgoing tide but couldnt seem to land one larger than the new restrictions put forth. At this point I started to lose my cool between the boat traffic and the endless radio checks on 68 I made the courageous move to fish the ocean for tog.You have to fish clam baits this time of year because the togs mouths are very tender.Without giving out all my secrets the blackfish are feeding as my neighbor neighbor went home with plenty of fillets. So guys and gals if you cant find a keeper fluke out there try using fresh skimmy clam for some tasty blackfish.
