I want to add some eyes to my bucktails? I never really took notice of the color of a fishes eyes. The "white" of the eye seems almost a metalic/white/green. Any suggestions? Maybe some auto tuoch up paint? Is it worth the trouble or is it just me getting in touch with my "inner artist".

iningolob, I think the eyes are more for your "inner artist" then anything else, but what I use on a lot of the offshore lures I make is moveable eyes available at any craft store. They come in different sizes and either sew on or glue on. They are White with a Black moving pupil. Attach with contact cement. I catch fish with or without them.

If you are putting eyes on bucktails the only one who will see it is yourself and anbody else who looks at your gear. At the depth you would work a bucktail the only thing the fish would see is the silouette( spelling). and after 3 or 4 cast the paint from hitting the surface is usually gone anyway. Best advice save your money or spend the money and buy some hackle feathers and add them on the bucktail to increase the view of the jig. like the ones i made on the photos above i also use a red sharpie marker and color in the mouth and eyes just incase some one wants one. If they are mine i just leave them the color of the paint . I fish in a rockie area after 3 cast all the paint is off an i am down to the lead anyway. It does not effect my catching percentage. I also use a pork rind trailer too. white with white buck taile and red rinds on yellow bucktails. That is just my opinion hope it helps.
