My 11' Lamiglass surf stick has a cork handle that seems to have dried out and feels very rough. Without having to replace the entire handle is there a way to refinish the existing cork? I'm not sure if you could just lightly sand the cork and finish it with something to rejuvinate or protect it from the elements. It has not started to crumble apart but the roughness leads me to believe it will only get worse with time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. John

Hi John,

I take it that the handle is made of cork rings. If so you could san it a bit and wrap cork tape over it.

You could install shrink tubing over the handle but be careful not to cook the cork rings when heating the tubing.

Or, sand the cork rings a bit and apply U40 cork sealer. I think the sealer might make the handle slippery when wet.
