There was a thread here talking about different methods of reel seat installation. This is the technique i use. Bonsiguy requested some pics so here ya go Bon

I have been using this technique on every rod i build, as you will see it is 100% fail proof. The other methods used here all work... this is what works for me.

Picture one.....First step is to coat the blank with liquid Epoxy

Picture two.....start a cross pattern up and down the blank

Picture three....add a layer of epoxy

Picture four....more thread and another layer of epoxy

Picture Five.....Slide the reel seat into place

I have 3 sizes of string. Will it be stronger if I used the lighter string as a reel seat arbor underwrap, then the medium as an overwrap, and finall teh lasso rope that I have as a final overwrap? lol.

If I use different color string, can I drill holes in teh reel seat to see the colors underneath? That's actually not a bad idea.

Been doing this forever, and I feel it is by far the best way to mount a reelseat.

In order of thickness

Plumbers String-Soft, Absorbant, Thick!

Butchers Twine- My Mainstay, soft and absorbant, medium thickness.

Cotton Kite String- Great when you need just a little bit.

i am sure you can do all of the above and if you wrap them in the right sequence it may form a nice pattern
