I picked up a reel on e-bay & am looking for some info on it. The only ID on this thing is : made in Japan on the reel foot & a small sticker on the side "walker 610" ) Seems to work very well & it's clean. It is the size of a Penn 114. Thank you, roger

WALKER 610 REEL>>>

Rogerpc....boy you brought up one that has me stumped, but i will try to find out. Many of us do not realize that their where a number of foreign made reels that never make it into this country but yet are popular overseas. I have never heard of a Walker reel, so let me ask some other sources.

WALKER REELS>

I contacted a person i feel is the preminent reel guy in the country that i know of.

Off the top of his head he stated that while in Australia he saw reels marketed by Jarvis Walker (largest distributor there) under their own name. They appear to be low end reels manufactured for them by one or another of the Korean contract mfrs. like Tica or Bando.

On seeing the pictures, i clearly see that these are copies of our BLACK PENN SENATOR reels. I do notice something that i have seen with Kencor reels which were produced in the late 70s and early 80s by a executive who used to work for Diawa ...look where the spool flange meets the inside of the inner plate ring. This was a design we saw in the past from Japanese reels manufacturers. I just wonder if the inner parts like gears are similar to our penn reels. They look pretty similar, and i would try one thing...go to a tackle shop and remove the star, and see which penn drag star fits on the bridge sleeves...that would give you a good idea on how similar these reels parts are to our penn reels.

If i find out anything more, i will let you know...
