I have this St. Croix rod, TM69XHF Legend Tournament Musky Rod 36-80lbs line, do you think my accurate 665hxm OR my 870m would be better suited w. the rod for jigging and some trolling? I might spool with 300 yrds of 65-80lbs spectra on whatever setup I try. I want to go for mostly tuna, but I'm not sure what my setup could handle. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have built rods from the saltwater/musky series great rods ..But I would not use it for trolling its a graphite rod..To much drag & one big fish strike = broken rod....go with a glass or composite for trolling.......

How much line do you think I could spool in the 870? The manual says spectra 50lbs/300yrds + mono 50/75, but I was planning in putting Daiwa 300m 80lb Saltiga Braid Line and I have no clue what the diameter is on that all I could find was it was PE6. It might be a little heavy for the 870 but I figured having a little more test would be safer and I think the 870 is pretty tough. Not sure what the max drag pressure is on the reel tho, I think maybe 20 lbs.???, so its close to the 1/3 rule of drag to test line ratio.
