I don't have any experience with that particular unit, but I did have a Raymarine Pathfinder 2KW Radar on my old boat and was very happy with it. Good luck.

The C-70 is an excellent unit, and the radar that goes w/ it performs very well. Get the GPS antenna for another $300, and you'll be styling. You can overlay the two screeens, or split them, and the result makes navigation easy. The plotter also has a lot of good features.

If you want to check prices on the net check Consumers marine electronics and broken leg Dave, they seem to have the best prices. And remember that West Marine will match prices if you find one cheaper.

Raymarine C70 radar package...

This is a fine unit for the price...I'm not sure of the sale price being $1700. but I do know it retails for $1899. in the stores and Raymarine has a $200. rebate which runs until the end of March..

Keep in mind the Radar will overlay the GPS accuratly up to 10knts. After that the screens will not keep up with each other and you will have false readings. In fog there should be no reason you should be doing more than 10knts anyway so it's a good fit...

If you want to achive speeds greater than 10knts with the overlay feature working properly than simply add the Smart Heading sensor from Raymarine and this sensor will allow overlay at top speeds...

MakoMike is correct...West Marine will match any Price of a competitor, just not a Joe Shmo .com internet company...These price matches are based on a competitor with retail space/stores and there website...

Forgot to mention the C-series can use the Navionics Platnium chip for the desired areas you want. It won't give you the 3D charting or the Satilite (Google Earth) overlay, but it will give you still shot photo's of Marinas and Harbor approaches. Also with the Platnium chip you can pull up onshore locations for the traveling boater..Restaurants,Gas Stations,Super markets,Marine Retailers and suppliers, etc, etc. If that sort of stuff dosen't interest you go with the Navionics Gold chip and you will receive the entire east coast on one chip with all the navigational charting you will need.

Either way you look at it, Great little unit for the Money and the sky 's the limit on what you can have on one screen!!!

Just tryin to help...

I had that exact set up on my last boat. For the most part it was a decent unit. I did have some situatuons in heavy rain and fog where I lost some targets no matter how much I adjusted the gain. For the price it is a good unit.
