Had to take the day off today with this incredible weather and finally wet a line, so I started out just east of the Quogue Bridge and threw flies into the ebbing current. Water was very clear but no sign of bait. Even the birds seemed to be asleep. Well, no hits after about 90 minutes. Then went to the park just North of Indian Island Golf Course on a report that a few fish were caught there in the last few days. Threw everything I had for 3 hours, even went down to a 8# tippet. Water seemed to be at least 50 degrees. Just no fish around...not a sign of bait either. This is a gorgeous flat btw, so I assume in a week or so when the bait settles in I'll see some fish. The only sign of life I did see was the Osprey in her nest on the NW corner of Rout 24 and 105...hey a sign because they got to eat too!
