I was wondering if anyone can make a recommendation of a good place to purchase a Van Staal real and what size. I fish the south shore and north shore beaches throwing plugs, bucktails and swimmers. I was think of the 200 is that too light?

Saltwaters is an excellent shop and there are other excellent shops as well. Click here and see which shop is closest to you. Give them a call and check to see if they carry VS reels.

As to which reel would work best - hopefully those that use Van Staal's could chime in. Just remember - the north shore and south shore present very different conditions.

VS'sssssssssss

All depends on what rod type you are placing it on. I own a vs275 and had it on my gsb132 1m ( 11 ft rod). I also use it on my gsb 120 1m ( 10 ft rod). IMHO a vs 200 would be great on a 9 ftr. or less. >>>>Martin

If you're using an 11' rod you would go with either a 250 or 300. Depends on you.
I have a used 300S for sale in perfect mechanical condition and not fished since VS serviced it this year. If interested send me an email.
