I might possibly go out to Prospect Park with my Dad this weekend. I just got some good lures and want to give them a try. I got a Normark Jigging Rap, big Cordell Crazy Shad Topwater, 1-inch cicada blade, and Northland Swim Shiner, and a Red/White Daredevle Spoon. These are just the new ones, I have others. What do people catch in Central Park? With what lures? I usually go near the building with all the animal vision machines, duckweed on microscopes, etc. I've seen Shiners and Bluegills around there. What else, where, on what can I try? Teach me! LOL:)

I lived on West 66 for ten years. Fished Central park a few times. Mostly panfish and a few small bass. I didn't hit it hard though. I know there at least used to be some good bass there. Search NY Times website using terms "fly fishing in central park." Three stories there. I remember one years ago where a guide was giving instruction at the lake with the boat house. That's the only one I tried. There were pictures of people with some good bass. I think there's some good carp in there to. I forget what all gear you had. My one recommendation would be to go with smaller baits and an ultralight outfit. Start seeking quantity and work your way up to quality. Fish slow too. It's still cold, so they won't be as agressive.
