I've been thinking about sending my prop and shaft out for inspection...what is the approximate cost?

It depends on what they have to do. The guys I used last time in RI had one of those prop scan machines and he charged me $75 to scan and clean up the prop that didn't need any work. The prop that needed work cost me about $300.

the prop has no dings or bends (that I can see)...since I'm planning to replace the flax in the stuffing box it would also be a good time to send the shaft out to verify that it's straight & true.

I thought the prop facility in Essex closed...
