Copper is too soft to use as and too expensive to use as throughwire. Brass is a better bet. I've been using brass for a couple of months now and have had no major problems. The preferred through wire is stainless steel. Try a welding supply. The wire should be greater than 0.035" if you plan on using it for striped bass. If you are hunting small to medium sized blues, the 0.035" stainless is probably OK. Good Luck!
