Offshore forum -JIGS-plated or not?

some are saying the jigs work just
fine w/out the chrome. If the flash
dosen't help get atention why use
colored bugs?. Is chrome not a color?
Am I throwing my $ away buying the
chromed ones ?

In my opinion, plated jigs work depending on what you are fishing for. I think what you are talking about in the offshore forum is regarding Cod jigs. With cod jigs, most fishing is done at depths over 100-150 foot. At greater depths, there is not a great amount of light, if any at all. Therefore, without light, chrome(plated) jigs don't have any advantage over unplated jigs. When there is no light, fish strike at movement (and smell), not sight.
