Horticulture and fish

Tulips in bloom, forsythia, dogwoods actually tell the angler a great deal, these blooms coincide with not only air, soil temps but water temps also. It's known as a phenological calender,it enables an observant naturalist to see that calender dates are not as critical as is natures time clock. So the next time you catch an early Spring striper observe the local fauna and smile with the realization you learn something new every day,and that nature answers to it's own timetable. There are two natural phenomenon(sp?) that I totally beleive in:

When the dogwoods are blooming, the blackfish are back inshore.

and when the Yellow Jackets are flying about, the snappers(bluefish) are around. Check that out during the summer ;)
