I want to troll a bunker spoon but i don't want to use wire or a downrigger.Will a planer or a drail enable me to troll a large spoon using mono line?

You can try it but I can tell you that you will not have good results. You need the rods to be able to work up and down with the action of the spoons. Planers & drails seem to have a very negative effect upon this action.

I use leadcore line and love it. It is so much easier to work with than wire. You can even un-spool the leadcore back onto the plastic and re-spool it back on your reels next year. Leadcore is also much easier on your guides and It has more stretch than wire.
