Lets say you want to the setup for Jigging or Bait up to 250' or less ... I'd like to get opinions on Rod , lenth , grip , Reel and Line and round about pricing .

At the Bash EC had a great setup for Jigging . EC can you run that setup by us again and with any modifications to the Reel .

I ready for a new addition . I'm looking for a light wieght well balanced setup where I can flip out a lure .

With a normal winter these days I might shoot up north a dozen times or so . Although I have some older gear for cod fishing I need a change .

As crazy as this may sound one reel I still use for jigging is a Jig master . Its worked fine and I can cast it a mile and has handle some large fish althought one time I shreded a gear with a large fish so I went into my bag and put on a spare , I have others but I keep going back to that .

Now I need to change with todays technology . I can't take the crazy looks I get when using it and need to keep up with the times .

Codkiller gave you a excellent example of whats needed when fishing in water shallower then 250 feet. A newell 338 3.6 is another option, along with the Diawa 300, Pro Gear 3500 and even Diawa sealine 50H (on sale at Capitol for 50 bucks from what i heard).

As far as rods, you can use the GUTT BUSTERS in the 108 series and the standard Lamiglass 1143F cut to a 14 to 16 tip. The Lamiglass blank that i brought to the BASH is one that has been discontinued for many years, but has a thicker wall then a MB1143F, and the action similar to a BT1083M. It works jigs upto 16 oz but its comfort zone would be jigs no greater then a 12, just right for the codfish we see on the offshore Nantucket Shoals trips.

Good luck with your new cod stick, Mike Tuna!
