Does anyone have any experience/advice/opinions about the Penn International Stand-up wind on rollers rod, model VS5010AWA60. I was thinking about using it for 50vsw's.

I seem to recall not many people caring for the "Tuna Sticks" years ago but haven't heard anything about the International Stand-up Rods.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Pleanty of people use tuna sticks and really like them... I probably would've tried those Penn ARA wind on rods but the issue is they are 6 ft. and I find that a bit too long.

Plus you can't buy them with any discount as a combo either.. Boaters world sells a similar production rod that Is $850 w/ a Penn 70 and I think they offer the same combo with a 50VSW, might be worth checking out if you haven't bought reels yet..

One thing to keep in mind is for barely anything over the $370 you will pay for the Penn rod you can have a custom one built with the same components..

My buddy has them, he likes them for both sharking and tuna chunk/troll. I find they are too long for me. I have 10 Penn Tuna Sticks and have never had a problem, some are well over 5 years old. I use them for everything.

so many choices

I have some 5'6" broomsticks that I feel are just way too stiff. I kind of like the 6' rod with a softer tip to allow the rod to provide the pressure to the shark and not the angler on the other end of the broom stick. The other thing is I really like the idea of winding on the leader for sharking.
