Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with these spinning reels in the surf? The nameplate, light weight and especially the price makes them very attractive. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I had one, it was smooth and I could cast pretty far too!
After 3 TRIPS IN THE SURF the reel was fried completly shot,being that the reel only lasted a week it was no problem returning it to the shop I bought it at. The reel may be great for other applications but it is NOT for fishing the SURF. Try the Slammer instead

PENN POWERGRAPH II

How unfortunate that I already ordered one. But the price was only $55 so I couldn't resist. Well if it blows up I'll return it and start over. Guess I'll have to wait for SANTA to bring me the SLAMMER.

As usual it seems you get what you pay for. I just can't seem to resist trying to find a bargain. For me it seems shopping for equipment is almost as fun as fishing. Thanks for the responses. I'll let you know how this one works for me.
