I have a question for Captneilf i just got a 975LD as a gift i plan to spool it with either 17 or 20 test. What rod would u recommend for this reel. All my inshore fishing is for flukes, stripers, weak and blues, i think offshore this reel would be just adequate for mahi mahi as it would be a bit too light for other gamefish. Please advice. Secondly i would like to see your rods and discuss getting some rods made thank you my email is [email protected]

Polodog,

Thanks for the inquiry.

There are some great composite blanks to fit your needs and also graphite if you prefer. I have Lamiglas, Calstar and Seeker blanks on site for you to ceiling poke and several for you to field test if you desire.

Call to set up a meeting in my shop at Sayville. (631) 567-8049.

Thanks again.

The 975LD is a great reel and are great for Tuna, White Marlin, as well as othre offshore species. For inshore I have used one for blackfish with great results as well as for chunking bass. As for the rod I would highly recommend going by Neil's shop, he will set you up right :) Tight Lines.
