I hate to be the odd one out but I'm sold on Shimano and would never buy another Penn reel.Calcuttas and TLD'S are the way to go. Just my opinion.

A great reel. I got a Shimano. Just got lucky at a yard sale to find one. Both Penn and Shimano are great reels. Some will like both and some will like one or the other.

Just try fishing it and see. Fish cannot tell if you are using a Penn or Shimano. Just make sure you know how to fight the fish with your reel and that's all you really need to know.

They are good reels. I caught an 70lb YFT on one this year by accident trying to catch Mahi. After a long battle it held up. I was surprised the fish didnt dump the reel though. I guess the rod was really flexable (fluke rod) & the fish never made a big run, I put allot of pressure on the fish & the reel did not fail.
