I just thought I would pass along this unusual but helpful tidbit I recently picked up.....

I have a 20ft center console and it's plastic windsheild/visor has become hazed and scratched up like most that you normally see on older boats.

Well I'm told that vinegar and water will clear the haze like windex could never AND..........PEANUT BUTTER as a rubbing compound will do a great job on the scratches!!

Ithink I'll wait til spring to try it .....will post my results then.

Anyone else ever heard of this or any other unusual and handy ideas for boat maintenance???

An older man told me when I was a kid, that you rub your finger on the outside of your nose and then use the oil to keep the metal on the reels free from oxidation, gross but effective.

Hi Matty---

Yes!.Gotit!....also "nose oil" on rod ferrules before joining is an old trick that helps when taking a rod down.

Alan----

I'd venture a guess "creamy" for light scratches and "Chunky" for heavy duty jobs.

And remember....."Choosey boat owners choose Jiff"

Hey,
Just for the record, I was at the boat show today and there was a guy there from "flitz" polish, and he wiped some of this polish on a hazed windshield that he also wet sanded first, and it took most everything out of the glass.

Smoke and mirrors? But definately worth trying a tube
