Anyone have any experience or thoughts about the Parker 2520DV? Do you think it would be capable of running to Hudson from montauk? Also, how do they handle the seas with a 21 degree deadrise? Thanks and any info. is appreciated.

hello tom i am sure parkers are good boats but i really cant say much about them but i can address your question about the deadrise issue. i just got my self a 27 footer well actually 26'10" with a dead rise of 21 degrees. i know many school of thoughts but what i found was that 21 degrees was a happy medium where as in boats like regulater u will find 24 which is an excellent ride in rough sea's but i was not disappointed with 21 degrees i took my boat for seatrials on a nasty day and it was a dry and comfortable ride at around 20 knots in 3-4 foot seas did not take a pounding plus with higher angles like 24 etc u do scarifuce stability so i found 21 a pretty good number but then every one's idea is different secondly range depends on fuel type of engines etc. btw with 25-27 footer dont forget our trips to the canyon will be very limited depending on good weather good luck on your search any other info u need about my search and the brands and boats i looked at please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Thanks for the info. I would only be making the run to the canyons probably twice a year. That is weather permitting. Mostly I would use it on the inshore tuna/sharks. I also am looking at the 27' Eastern. It's more of a downeast hull with a single diesal inboard.

I bought a used 25DVSC this year. I've been out to the barcardi from Jones and am hoping to make it to the canyon. the weather will have to be very stable befor I'd pull the trigger. the boat is great, rides well in most anything resonable.

I have a 2520DV with single 250. The boat rides fine in 3-4' seas, would not leave the inlet in forecast for 5' or more; would be uncomfortable (as it would be in any boat under 30'). Burns about 14gal/hour at 18-20knot cruise with 200 gallons on board.

I have made several trips to Chicken Canyon, Glory Hole, Coimbra (about 50 miles from FI) and just returned from Montauk/Block Island with no problems. I'd consider going to the Hudson in this boat, but would need stable weather and fish report warranting the trip. To date this year it hasn't happened.

Why would you run to the Hudson from Montauk anyway ? Many times, better fishing closer to home for you.

thanks for the info. I was using the Hudson because that is the farthest I would go realisticly. If it has the range to there, then it is no problem to run anywhere else. I've done it twice in a 32' twin screw. And yes, it is a haul. Again, thanks for the info.

Tom B, I too have a single (carbed) 250 Yamaha. Navman fuel flow indicates around 15GPH at 22 knots / 26 MPH. I agree with the other parker guy, the weather would have to be stable and the fishing reports would have to be good to get me out there. We've had plenty of nice weather, but the Hudson reports have not warrented a trip to the canyon yet) ! PS - I Carry two GPS, Loran, Two VHFs, 406 EPIRB, etc. Kicker is being contemplated.

Tom - Bear in mind, my numbers are with a carbed engine, the other guy also based on the numbers. EFI will save you another 20%, HPDI another 10% beyond EFI. Also, 200 gallon capacity is now an option, I have 173. Still it's doable for me on paper.

I took a test ride on one with twin 150's on a bracket but it was flat calm. I also looked at one with twin 125 four strokes. Although, when out there with full fuel and reasonable gear, it felt underpowered.

Either that or something else was wrong. It took a rediculous amount of time to come onto plane and it topped out at 28 mph. To me this seems odd. Have you tested it? Maybe the boat was messed up? I would like to know. It was by a private seller.

I have owned a Parker 2520DV w/ single Yamaha 250HP Saltwater Series II OX66 for 4 years, and run to the canyons on my boat about twice a year. Yesterday I ran from Moriches to 5nm east of The Dip in 2-3' seas (wind and waves from the west all day). The distance is 72nm. My boat has the Yamaha Fuel Management gauge, which seems to say that I burn a little more fuel than I actually do. The tank gauge reads about 20 gallons less than what I typically have left. I cruised at 22 knots heading out there with a full tank, 1.5 coolers of ice & one other person, averaging 13-14gph. I trolled for 4 hours, averaging 4.5gph. The run home showed an average of 11-12gph. I burned 112 gallons with 61 gallons left. I caution you to have 4-5 gallons of Yamalube onboard, because if the 2.5 gallon tank gets within 2/3 empty, at any point thereafter you will get an alarm that will back down the engine to idle, which could be dangerous if you are not prepared for this to happen. The boat rides nice, but it is still a small boat & you will come back more exhausted from the motion than being on a big battle wagon. To run from Montauk to the Hudson Canyon Tip (90nm) under similar conditions, troll for 4 hours & run home, you will burn about 135 gallons of fuel, with 38 gallons left over. If you experience a flat ocean and are not tempted to go beyond 4200rpm, the trip should be no problem. I don't believe you would have the range with twin outboards or an I/O with this boat. One other comment- you will not find a more seaworthy boat (that's O/B powered)in a 25'er for the money. I am very satisfied.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] for more info.

Assuming you are looking at the deepV, the twin 125 four strokes may be a bit light. still 28mph wide open ? my 25dvsc with single 250 hits 38 mph lightly loaded. twin 150 (2 strokes) should get you over 40 mph with any load. somethings fishy..

Thats what i was afriad of. I thought that maybe water was seeping in through the thru-hull fittings or the thru-hill fishfinder transducer. I am going with a new one with a 250. I feel it is the best way. No worrys as with a used boat.
