Do must who leave your boats in for the season paint your transducer ? Garmin recommends not to but I have a hard time with the idea of not painting my new transducer I leave my boat in Norwalk Conn and wonder if it would still work after a few months without being painted. Thanks

Use transducer paint. Mine is painted with transducer paint and works fine. If you dont paint it it will get barnacles and growth and be ruined.

Not true, if you are so inclined you can not paint it and just scrape the barnacles off once every couple of weeks or so.

The ducer paint in the little white bottle is not available anymore. I saw a spray on that replaced the MDC(SP?) ducer paint. Havn't had a cahnce to try it.

you don't need to paint it, but there will be the opportunit for growth to accumulate. It won't get ruined, but will need to be cleaned as the signal degrades. Use transducer paint if you do decide to coat it. Regular bottom paint has solvents that will ruin your unit.

paint...

You should use the special transducer paint.

I have always painted them (out of laziness?) with whatever bottom paint I used to paint the bottom of the boat and I have used all types. No problems to report.

One day I will get a bottle of that stuff.
