For some reason I can no longer delete emails form my outlook express files.

I can move from folder to folder except for the deleted items folder.

Whenever I try and delete something I get a pop up that says this item could not be deleted and error has occured.

If I try and move them to the deleted items folder I get a pop up that says These items could not be moved an error has a occured.

I am not on a network, my pc only.

Any Ideas? My files are gonna shut down if I don't dump some of this stuff.

Thanks

PS, Jerry has been no where near my computer.

I recently had a similar problem, with moving emails inside outlook (not Express). Something to do with MS ODBC - looked into it but just archived.

Why don't you try changing your Outlook settings to delete emails in the deleted items folder in one day, and see what happens?
I can't get them into the delted items folder.

Oh, I got it. So essentially you had the same problem as me. I couldn't move from my inbox to any of my folders, I'd get an error message. I archived all my folders and reinstalled Outlook, still pissed my calendar history and notes got wiped clean.

One thing I read was that it had to do with XP SP2 update, someone recommended an uninstall and then reinstall from MS - but you should read up on that first.

can you create a nother folder and put them in there and try deleting them from there
Tried that, same thing. I have a spam folder also, before this problem started I could empty it by selecting empty spam folder and they all went. Now when I try that no go or they go one at a time. Pretty hard to get rid of 1200 spams one at a time lol.

Az try this:

In Outlook Express go to Tools<Options<Maintenence tab and check Empty messages from "Deleted Items" folder on exit. If you have a Clean Up Now button below that, click it...then click Apply. Exit OE, re-open, hopefully Deleted folder will be empty.

OK I did all that right up to the store folder. Do you know how to find and delete the dbx file once you are in there? I am not computer guru by no means. lol

I don't use outlook, but the way I read it - you find the dbx file in the directory that was shown, and copy it into another folder on your c:drive. Then close Outlook and delete the original dbx file in the folder that was shown. reopen Outlook and move that dbx copy back into the directory that has been newly created by outlook.

I take ZERO responsibility for anything that goes wrong, lol.
