2018 started with Blackfish this year. Been cold and rainy. Not expecting much, we gave it a go. 8 anglers on Saturday and 14 anglers on Sunday fished hard in strong full moon tides and cold 44 degree water. Decked several Blackfish on Saturday but none made the 16 inch keeper mark. A mix of other bottom dwellers took the baits on a couple of drops. Tough day but good to get back on the water. Sunday was better with a few keepers over the 16 inch mark to 4 pounds and a decent pick of shorts. Dennis took the pool and landed 2 Tog. 70'-75' was the depth and only clam baits caught. There was a decent pick for an hour, mostly shorts. Far from a good day of fishing but a fun day with a fun group. Thanks to all who came out and gave it a go. As soon as Tog season started it will close after tomorrow. Up next....... Early May Peconic Bay Fluke opens this Friday May 4th! Upcoming Availability to Fish Brooklyn Girl: This Saturday May 5th - Full Day Fluke - Several spots available Squid and spearing have begun filling into the warmer bay waters and some of the season's biggest flatties will be on their tails. Hope you can make it! Thanks, Capt.
