I browse several message boards on the net, and participate in some. But I feel that out of all the sites that I read, this one for the most part has an absence of "clicks" or people dont seem to gang up on others because they are new, beginners, or just diffrent. I find myself logging on several times a day and look foward to reading replys to my questions, reading product opinions, fishing methods, and just kidding around.
Too bad the rest of my life doesnt go this smooth.

What do you think?

We LOVE beginners and people new to fishing that are interested in learning because we were there at one point in our lives. We treasure the old salts that took the time and cared enough to share with us. And that as a result of what they taught us and learned has brought years of enjoyment and continues to do so.

Been on about 4 years

Started under a different handle. But the knowledge I gained here has saved me a lot of time and gas. Would not call myself a sharpie (yet). But a lot of people on this site are very helpful and generous w/ their knowledge. Best site and membership I have come across.

question

ok, is it me or what?
i get up early, prep my rods/reels, check that there's enough gas/oil on board, sharpen them hooks, re tie them knots, cruise out the canal, and open her up too places yet unknown to me...
As i'm cruisin i see a bunch of guys ahead, fishin. i go around them to a spot hundreds of yards away, and start my thing. wow, i'm catching bass, after bass, after bass...no one here but me. do i share this information with the whole board, or save it in hopes that the next time i go back there, the fish still might be holding there? in the past 5 or so years i've done both...
results? of the good spots i've given away, they've been all fished out, as to the "other spots" they still hold fish, year after year after year. if you got a boat, explore like the rest of us, think thats what the old timers meant by "puttin in yer time", no? i almost always catch fish everytime out...work an area with structure over, and over, and over. i'll tell ya what artificial i use, but as to technique, and spot...time...practice...patience...persistance...luck? only for finding "the BIG ones"...sure hope i fired up a few of you out there!!!

Tell em the wrong bay

That way next time you wont even have traffic. I would rather fish alone, than in a crowd of boats, gets a little scary out in the inlet at night with the heavy traffic nights.

Hi all,

Have you noticed that more fish are caught by the "PINK HOUSE" than anywhere else! Every area seems to have a "PINK HOUSE".
As teen in the 50's there was one
west of Jones Inlet. I think it was the Lido Beach Hotel. There are these houses in Mt Sinai and west of the Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays.

I think many use these Pink Houses as a false report to hide "their spots".

For the folks that pay their dues and find "honey spots" I say protect them as long as you can. They don't last long.

I was to go on a 2 man charter for stripers. The capt/owner was told the 2nd fisherman would be another capt. He was concerned that I would steal his technique and spots. Can't blame him for that. With my memory he has no problem. I had a great trip!

MB,
As fishing boards go, this is the best. Basically no cliques or groups, everyone is open and willing (mostly) to help, and folks here are compassionate, as evident by when someone's grandfather passed, or when someone else had a personal issue with their son's operation.
And, having met a bunch of the guys at the bash last Friday, I think it's safe to say that we all want to fish, keep on learning, and have a good time doing it.
Capt Tom

PS Capt Neil, I usually don't tell a charter capt that I am a captain. It's not because I want his numbers, but I want him to try as hard to put me into fish as he would for anyone else. Knowing I'm a capt, he may not go to his honey-hole for fear of giving it away.

Capt Tom,

My friend who booked the charter told him. Turned out we had a great trip, some rain, some slop amd great fishing.
The Charter capt has a real nice operation going, especially if you don't mind getting there at 0430!
