You just wanna make sure that its not rubbing against or touching anything other then that it really doesn?t matter as long as it as close to being level with the eye as possible. You just want to avoid the winch being much lower or higher then the eye. Try and position it so that the winch cable is parallel (or as close to it as possible) to the ground when the trailer is on flat land.

thank you for the help. i just figured i ask because i some times have a hard time cranking up. either its just a long day out and at the end i dont want to be bothered or im getting really old quick.
