Old Christams trees?

I seem to remember in the past a drive to have guys bring their old christmas trees (cleaned of all the non-biodegradable stuff) to various beaches to help fortify the dunes. Does anyone know if this still goes on?

i remember that drive myself.. but im not sure if they do it anymore.. they might just mulch em all up nowadays
