Old Christams trees?

I seem to remember in the past a drive to have guys bring their old christmas trees (cleaned of all the non-biodegradable stuff) to various beaches to help fortify the dunes. Does anyone know if this still goes on?

Yes.
Noticed in the local Suffolk community papers that the town of Babylon was doing some Christmas tree, dune work on the following beaches West Gilgo, Gilgo and Cedar Beach. call 422 7640.
Huntington is working Makanah beach in Fort Salonga..regret no contact numbers.
It mentioned that The Hamptons were not doing Xmas tree rehab.
